The most successful websites out there have two things in common: great web design and SEO strategy. As we all know, search engines are not able to find specific sites from their images, that's why having a good SEO strategy is key to generating traffic. That is not to say all you need to have a successful website is to have good SEO. There's a saying that goes, "You never get a second chance to make a first impression" and it's true. What's to keep a visitor on your page and coming back if all they see is a mess? That is why SEO can't be successful without great web design.

those that don't know, search engine optimization, or SEO, involves placing your company's keywords all over your website. This is usually done in the title, the headlines, the copy, and even the alt tags for images. This is how users find your site among millions in search engines. Great SEO will get your website on the first, second, or third page. Any farther than that, usually, the user will try to specify their search. You would want your keywords to be specific and not to broad about your website.

Great SEO also involves writing relevant content for the visitor to read. Poorly written content can leave the reader struggling to find the key information that they came for. They will get frustrated with your website and most likely leave. To be sure this doesn't happen, focus your content on what you are offering. Don't spend too much time on writing about you or your company, a brief description of your mission and your qualifications can be sufficient enough. Also the quality of the content should be your main concern. Know what your key point and purpose for your website and clearly state that to the reader.

The purpose of your website will often determine the type of web design that you need. For example, a website that offers professional services and content, you would need to have a web design that shows just that. You wouldn't want to appear playful when you are offering professional services like legal or medical advice; visitors would most likely not take what you have to say seriously. This also goes for the other way around, if you are offering services in parties or comedic performances, you wouldn't want to look too professional.

Successful websites combine the great SEO and eye catching web design together to generate traffic and impress them once they visit. Since SEO involves good content writing, the visitor will be able to find what they need after they have been hooked. Also, great web design doesn't just mean the images, flash videos, etc. It involves the layout of the website. To be able to navigate through the website and find what you need is one of the best things a website can have. It wouldn't be good if the visitor can't find what they are looking for.
