On-page Optimization is done on the pages of a website to improve its performance in the search engines for target keywords . On page SEO is directly related to the content and structure of a website. It involves modifying keyword frequency in the URL, Titles, Headings, Hyperlinks and Page content. On-page website optimization is an affordable SEO service for the complete overhauling of a site to produce better linked and focused page content. Keyword search, selection and testing – A page with two to four keywords directly related to the content is best optimized. In order to include more keywords, the content may be split into separate pages. Title Tags – The titles show up at the top of the browser and are generally used by the search engines in search results. The title tag should contain keywords, be direct and to the point. For better optimization, all pages on the website should have unique titles. Meta Description Tags – They are used to provide a short description of the site in Search Engine Results Pages. Thus the first header and sentence should describe the content well for better website optimization. ALT Tags – Image alternate-text tags (ALT Tags) are only indexed where the image is part of a hyperlink. Also ALT tags are useful for non graphical browsing. With a proper description of the pictures on the website, the search engines consider them relevant to the keywords. The website shows up in the results when a search is made for images. Heading Tags - Search engines only index a limited amount of text in HTML tags. Hence the page content should be properly structured with Heading (H1, H2, H3 etc) tags containing relevant keywords. But use of too many keywords may dilute the focus, so they must be used cautiously. URL Structure – The Uniform Resource Locator (URL) should ideally have around 128 characters as the upper limit. It should contain short, descriptive and relevant keywords separated with Hyphens. Internal links – Keywords combined in different phrases and order should be included within the content to create anchor text to related internal pages. The number of links should generally be below 50; identical outbound links should never be repeated. Keyword density – Keyword density plays a significant role for searches of uncompetitive words. Combining optimum keyword density with quality content helps to better optimize a website. Site maps including XML and user facing – In an optimized website, theme related pages are generally at the same hierarchy and linked through the site’s menu structure and site map. At least one page at the same level links back to the home page so that search engines can index the rest of the website. Content – The amount of content is another factor directly in control of a website. Large websites rank better than small websites; and search engines like fresh content and spider them more frequently. So a regularly updated blog or web page can provide deep links to the rest of the website.
