Focus on getting links from relevant sites that are similar to yours. When you get back links from relevant and related sites that would naturally link to you, then the link count for a lot. Unrelated and random links from any old site can penalize you or not even help you at all. Some of the most popular and effective link building techniques are using directory submissions, article submissions, social media, blog commenting, and forum posting. If used correctly and placing your links within those techniques, your rank can increase significantly.

Of course you can make it easier on yourself and pay someone to do all this for you, but it may not be as easy on your wallet. SEO may be in high demand and you probably have heard people say the only way to get top ranked results is to utilize their services, but when you learn search engine optimization techniques you can get high rankings for free.
